At Kinfolk Chiropractic Centre, our chiropractors have completed post-graduate studies involving paediatric neurological assessment and management. These assessments help identify the areas of a child’s brain functioning either at or below expected levels for their age. By examining these results, we gain valuable insights into whether your child could benefit from chiropractic care and can determine the most suitable approach for their needs. Our approach typically involves a combination of treatment modalities, and we may also facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals.
We are pleased to offer complimentary initial Spinal and Neurological examinations for children aged 0-12 years of age at our centre. During these examinations, we conduct comprehensive neurological developmental screenings, which encompass various tests including assessment of gross motor development, sensory exam, cerebellar function, neuromaturation, cranial and neurological examinations, and evaluation of retained primitive reflexes.
Primitive reflexes, which are crucial for a baby’s neurological development, should naturally fade away within the first year of life. However, if these reflexes persist, they can impact the brain’s natural developmental progression and hinder the formation of vital neural pathways necessary for learning.
