HEADACHES

Headaches are very prevalent and common in todays society but definitely are not normal to be experiencing. Headaches create discomfort or pain in the head and upper neck region. They can feel and look different for everyone, from mild, sporadic occurrences to debilitating migraines and tension headaches. While not all headaches stem from mechanical or musculoskeletal issues, chiropractic care can significantly contribute to their management and alleviation.

Tension headaches, migraines, and cervicogenic headaches are often associated with spinal imbalances and mechanical dysfunction across the body. Tension headaches can manifest as constant aching, tightness, or pressure, typically localised at the back of the head and neck. In contrast, migraines, are less frequent, but create intense pain alongside symptoms like nausea, pain behind the eyes or ears, and heightened sensitivity to light or sound.

The causes of tension headaches and migraines vary, often linked to accumulated stress, poor posture, or structural abnormalities. Cervicogenic headaches, however, are directly associated with structural issues, involving referred pain from the neck or spine, encompassing bones, discs, and soft tissues. Triggers for cervicogenic headaches may include trauma from heavy lifting, prolonged slouching, excessive bending, or persistent poor posture. This is why it is important to thoroughly assess you so we can support and help you with the right care plan moving forward here at Kinfolk Chiropractic Centre.
